GORILLA SAFARIS TREKKING DESTINATIONS
Uganda called the pearl of Africa, offers great opportunities to see the rare mountain gorillas on your safari holiday within Uganda and Rwanda. With a gorilla tracking permit costing USD 500 per person, you are allowed to track the rare and endangered mountain gorillas (gorilla beringei) from either Bwindi impenetrable forest in the south western part of Uganda or Mgahinga National Park, part of the virunga Gorilla Conservation Area. The rare mountain gorillas live in families and so you will visit a particualar gorilla group depending on the availability of permits.
GORILLA SAFARIS
These safaris start and end in Kampala, Uganda. These gorilla groups are the most attraction in Uganda for tourists and are found in two places i.e. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a habitat to 326 gorillas and Mgahinga National Park, a habitat to approximately 9 gorillas. Along with an experienced guide, tracking gorillas is a distinctive experience which leads you to a weird and wonderful land to meet remarkable great primates all day long but can be an overwhelming and thrilling experience at the same time.
RWANDA
A land of thousand Hills has its top tourist attraction as the rare mountain gorillas in Parc De Volcanoes (PNV), a centre where Dian Fossey set up her research centre for the gorilla conservation programs. Great trekking opportunities are available in this park and a gorilla tracking permit is available at a cost of only USD 500. Parc National des Volcans in the Virunga volcanoes is home to the mountain gorillas to which Dian Fossey dedicated her life. Nyungwe Forest, one of the largest montane forests in Central Africa, is renowned for its large troops of colobus monkeys and rich variety of orchids. Akagera National Park is a savannah park with elephants, hippo and crocodile. Lake Kivu is a beautiful inland sea enclosed by steep terraced hillsides. There are a large variety of birds. Rwanda has a rich culture with its second city, Butare, having one of the finest cultural museums in Africa.
