UGANDA: Called the pearl of Africa, Uganda offers great opportunities to see the rare mountain gorillas on your safari holiday within Africa. With a gorilla tracking permit costing USD 500 per person, you are allowed to track the rare and endangered mountain gorillas ( gorilla beringei) from either Bwindi impenetrable forest in the south western part of Uganda or Mgahinga National Park, part of the virunga Gorilla Conservation Area. The rare mountain gorillas live in families and so you will visit a particualar gorilla group depending on the availability of permits.
RWANDA: A land of thousand Hills has its top tourist attraction as the rare mountain gorillas in Parc De Volcanoes (PNV), a centre where Dian Fossey set up her research centre for the gorilla conservation programs. Great trekking opportunities are available in this park and a gorilla tracking permit is available at a cost of only USD 500. Earlier booking is necessary before you embark on your journey to Rwanda.
